The EaRly Years – Racing

Already shortly after her launch in Sept.1975 Rolling Stone was designated as „the hot boat“ in the San Francisco bay area. Chuck Burns, her naval architect, is still famous for his very fast designs and winning forms. Jack Ehrhorn, who worked as the master craftsman at the Stone Boat Yard. was one of the best known shipwrights at the US-Pacific coast. Skippered by US sailing champion and sailmaker Jim DeWitt, who also provided the sails, the result of this collaboration was a beautiful, very fast, high-quality racer which dominated many yacht races. Consequently, in 1976 Rolling Stone won „The Sir Thomas J. Lipton Challenge Trophy (1913)“ representing St. Francis Yacht Club.
