Great crew + great weather = great holidays
Due to the keel issues and a following break of almost two years Rolling Stone finally went back into the water – yeah. Like always Frank started the first 3 weeks with his family and they were cruising in Danish waters. Unfortunately, he had some problems with water intake from the port side of the bow and obviously the motor lost some cooling liquid. We were relatively sure that the leakage developed from an open seam at a location, we never touched to date. This will change though. The refit of the whole bottom side is an open project anyway and we will start it right away in Sept. 2024 – but that’s another story.
After Frank it was my turn and great news came from my other brother Jens, who wanted to join us already at the start of our trip in Kiel, so there were three of us. With such a big crew – compared to our usuall business – we enjoyed the charms of the boat on looong daysailers, often more than 60 miles and sailing conditions you dream of. The “new” 130% jib worked fantastic and many times we had “Rolling Stone weather” with a good breeze & sunshine all day long and she was really going fast. We easily managed to avoid bad sailing conditions like storm, rain or no wind at all, but also reach all our planned destinations in time. To make it short, this year was fantastic!
Jens left us after a week in Warnemünde / Hohe Düne, so Rainer and I had approx. two weeks left to bring the boat back to her home port in Kiel. This part of the holidays was characterized by a stable high with a lot of sun but unfortunately no wind, way too much or wrong direction or both. So, we just stayed in port, enjoyed beach life, good food and in general a very nice location, Großenbrode to be exactly…where else xD.
A special highlight this year was the visit of Geraldine & Maik and 2-year old son Julian in Warnemünde, Großenbrode and last but not least in Kiel. If you could have seen him, you would agree that he loves sailing boats and especially Rolling Stone. We all had a lot fun.
